1. How do I volunteer?

Click on the Navigation Bar link that says MEMBERSHIP. Most of the forms required are downloadable. If you have questions after that, call the KVFD Administrative Office at (301) 929-8000.

2. Do I have to volunteer as a firefighter?

No. KVFD has opportunities in several areas beside firefighting, no matter what your age. We have members who are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Paramedics, and non-riding Administrative members. We will provide all training for you to become an EMT and /or firefighter / and or Paramedic. We also will provide all equipment and uniforms and pay all costs and fees. We are actively soliciting application for new members. Our membership mirrors the community. Therefore, we also encourage application from women, African Americans, Asians, Hispanic and other minority and protected group members. There is no age limit on volunteering, though "riding members" must pass a County physical exam (and a County background check). We can also use office help, filing support, Canteen, Auxilliary and Loan Closet help. Whatever your availability and talents, we will welcome you.

3. What are shifts for "riding members" firefighters, EMTs, or Paramedics?
